What Does the Turbocharger Remanufacturing Process Involve?
Below we present the entire remanufacturing process, describing each stage step by step. We encourage you to watch the video presenting our service.
Disassembly of the Turbocharger
The first stage of remanufacturing is disassembling the turbocharger into its component parts and determining the cause of its damage.
Preliminary Washing
Next, we clean the dirty components of old oil and other impurities. We use special washing machines.
Sandblasting / Glass Beading
The cleaned housings are sandblasted. Thanks to glass beading, we can get rid of the remaining dirt that the washers could not handle (e.g., rust).
Core / CHRA Replacement
We replace the core (CHRA) with a brand-new one or assemble it from individual parts.
Core Assembly
If we assemble the core from individual parts, all its elements are brand new (core housing, rotor, compressor wheel, thrust collar, and repair kit).
Core Re-balancing and Leakage Control
We use high-speed balancing machines from two global manufacturers: Schenck and Cimat. The core balancing speed reaches up to 300,000 rpm.
Variable Geometry Replacement
If the turbocharger is equipped with a VNT/VTG variable geometry system, our service includes replacing it with a new one.
Assembly of Turbocharger Housings
All finished turbocharger components are assembled into a whole. We always use new screws and studs for tightening. The flat surfaces of the turbine housing are also planed before assembly to be perfectly flat in the mounting areas. In some types of turbochargers, e.g., in turbines from petrol engines, we also replace the hot part (cast iron, manifold) with a brand new one due to mechanical damage such as cracks.
Variable Geometry and Actuator Setting
We set the exhaust gas flow through the variable geometry and the operation of the actuator. We use 3 machines and 3 devices for this process.
Securing with Warranty Seals
We secure all screws and settings with special paint.
REMEMBER: Breaking warranty seals, or unauthorised repairs/modifications/structural changes made by the user are grounds for loss of the product warranty (more on the warranty).
